The school

Stratford Girls' Grammar School is at Shottery Manor, Shottery, Stratford-upon-Avon CV37 9HA. Its admission policy describes it as a selective single-sex academy for girls aged 11 to 18. For September 2027 entry, the published admission number for Year 7 is 120.

It is one of six schools in the Warwickshire group of the West Midlands Grammar Schools partnership, which shares one entrance test with the Birmingham, Walsall, Wolverhampton and Shropshire grammar schools.

How admission works

The school hasn't yet published its policy for September 2028 entry, so this summary uses its September 2027 policy. Policies can change each year, so check the current one before you name the school as a preference.

Your child sits the West Midlands 11+ test. After the results, a committee sets the school's "automatic qualifying score" and a lower minimum standard for the waiting list. No score is published in advance.

The priority area is a circle of 16.936 miles from the Fountain in Rother Street, Stratford-upon-Avon. If more girls apply than there are places, the 2027 policy offers places in this order:

  1. Children with an Education, Health and Care Plan naming the school.
  2. Looked after and previously looked after children who reach the qualifying score or come within 20 marks of it.
  3. Children eligible for the Pupil Premium through free school meals living inside the circle who reach the qualifying score or come within 20 marks of it, up to 19 places.
  4. Girls living inside the circle who reach the qualifying score.
  5. Girls living outside the circle who reach the qualifying score.
  6. Girls below the qualifying score but at or above the minimum standard, for the waiting list.

Ties are settled by distance, then by random draw. There is no priority for siblings.

Past scores don't tell you what will be needed in a future year. Each year's figures depend on how many children apply, how they score and where they live. They show what happened for September 2026 entry, not your child's chances.

These scores are on the test's own scale. NextJen's mock exam scores are our own estimate on a different scale, so they can't be compared with these figures and don't predict a result.

Registering for the test

The Warwickshire schools' 2027 admission policies say the way you register depends on where you live, not on which schools you want. If you're unsure, check with the school you'd most like your child to attend before the registration deadline.

The policies say:

  • If you live in Warwickshire, register with Warwickshire County Council through its Parent Portal.
  • If you live in Birmingham, register with the Birmingham grammar schools on the West Midlands Grammar Schools website, and choose to share the result with Warwickshire.
  • If you live somewhere else, register in the area where you would most like your child to go to school.

For September 2027 entry, Warwickshire's registration opened on 7 May 2026 and closed on 30 June 2026. Your child doesn't have to live in Warwickshire to sit the test.

Proof of address. Warwickshire County Council asks for proof of address in early December of Year 6. The school's 2027 policy asks for it within fifteen working days of the council's letter.

Test day and results

For September 2027 entry, Warwickshire County Council held the test on 12 and 13 September 2026, and results were available on its Parent Portal from 16 October 2026. You then apply for a school place to your home council by 31 October.

Open events

The school holds its open event for Year 5 families in June. It also runs "See us at Work" visits for Year 6 families, listed for Tuesday 13 October 2026, Thursday 28 January 2027 and Wednesday 10 March 2027, booked through Eventbrite. Check the school's visiting our school page for the current dates.
