Privacy notice

This notice explains what information NextJen holds about you and your children, why we hold it, who else sees it and what you can do about it. We've written it for parents, in plain English. There's a shorter version for children at the end.
Who we are
NextJen is run by Business name, to be added before launch, Business type, to be added before launch. We decide how your information is used, which makes us the controller of it under UK data protection law.

What we hold about you
- Your email address and a scrambled copy of your password. We can never see your actual password.
- A scrambled copy of your 4 number child mode PIN.
- Your plan, how many places it has, and when it renews or ends.
- If you joined the waitlist, your email, your first name and your child's school year, if you gave them.
Stripe, our payment provider, handles your card details. They never reach NextJen. We hold only Stripe's reference numbers for you and your plan.
What we hold about your children
We keep this as small as we can. Children have no login, no email address and no surname on NextJen.
- Their first name and school year, which you enter.
- Every answer they give, whether it was right, and when they gave it.
- Their working notes, which they type to explain how they reached an answer.
- Their skill scores and mock paper results.
Working notes are free text, so please remind your child not to type anything personal in them, like their surname, school or address. You can read every note in your parent area.
Why we use it

We never sell information, never show adverts and never use your child's information to market anything to them. Choosing the next question is the only decision the system makes about your child on its own, and it has no effect beyond their practice.
Who else sees it
These companies store or process information for us, under contracts that only let them use it to provide their service to NextJen.
- Supabase stores our database and sends account emails. The database sits in London.
- Vercel hosts the website. Our site runs on its London servers.
- Stripe takes payments and stores card details.
- Microsoft Outlook holds any emails you send us.
Some of these companies are based in the United States and may access information from there. When that happens, the transfer is protected by safeguards approved under UK law, such as the UK Extension to the Data Privacy Framework or the UK's standard contract terms.
We would only share information with anyone else if the law required it, for example a court order, or to protect a child from harm.
How long we keep it
- Your account and your children's progress stay while your plan is running.
- When your plan ends, we keep your children's progress for 12 months, so it's all still there if you come back. After that we delete it.
- You can ask us to delete your account and everything in it sooner. We'll do it within one month.
- Payment records are kept for 6 years, because the law requires it.
- Waitlist details are kept until NextJen opens and for 12 months after, or until you ask us to remove them.
Cookies
We use only the cookies the site needs to work. One keeps you logged in. Another keeps your child in child mode until you enter your PIN. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies, so there's nothing to accept or turn off.
Your rights
You can ask us to
- send you a copy of the information we hold about you or your children
- correct anything that's wrong
- delete your information
- give you your information in a file you can take elsewhere
- stop using it for a particular purpose
Email hello@nextjentuition.co.uk and we'll reply within one month. If you're unhappy with how we handle your information, please tell us first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this notice
If we change this notice in a way that matters, we'll email you before the change takes effect.
For children
NextJen keeps your first name, your school year, your answers, your working notes and your scores. We use them to pick your next question and to show your grown up how you're doing. Your grown up can read your working notes, so don't write your surname, your school or where you live in them. We never show you adverts and we never give your answers to anyone else. If you have a question about this, ask your grown up.
