About NextJen

Practice that teaches the method

NextJen is an online 11+ practice service for families preparing for the 11+ test shared by 19 schools in Birmingham and the West Midlands.

Why NextJen exists

Many children can follow an answer once they see it, but cannot yet find the method alone. NextJen is built around that gap. Every question tests one skill. When a child gets two wrong, they see a worked answer and then an easier question. When they get three right in a row, the questions step up. Parents see which skills are secure and which need work, in plain words, without comparing their child to anyone else.

How questions are made

Written from scratch, checked before any child sees them

NextJen has no connection to GL Assessment or to any school, and we never copy their papers.

  1. Written from scratch

Each question is written to match the style, format and topics of the test. None is copied from GL Assessment or from a school.

  2. Checked by code

Where an answer can be worked out by a program, we run it and make sure it matches.

  3. Solved again, blind

Separate automated reviewers solve every question again without seeing the answer. If they disagree, it goes back.

Children's privacy

We keep children's data to a minimum

The principles we follow, in plain words.

  • No child login. Your child practises in child mode, and your PIN takes you back to the parent area.
  • We never ask for your child's email address or surname.
  • No tracking in the child area, and no public profiles.
  • Data is deleted automatically 12 months after a plan ends.

Independent of the test and the schools

NextJen is independent. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to GL Assessment, West Midlands Grammar Schools (the schools' partnership), the King Edward VI Foundation, any council or any school. We don't have the real test papers. GL Assessment is a trade mark of its owner and is named only to describe the test.

Waitlist families get a founding price: £16 a month for the Year 3 start, £24 a month for 11+ Year 4 and £36 a month for 11+ Year 5, per child, fixed while your plan continues without a break. When a child moves on to the next course, they move to its founding price.
